A novel method to develop nanocomposite bimodal foams containing expandable polymeric microballoons: microstructural characteristics

This study aims to develop a novel technique in manufacturing nanocomposite bimodal foams containing expandable polymeric microballoons. Low density polyethylene syntactic were prepared via injection molding process, afterwards, batch refoaming method was utilized create structure. The effects of microballoon and nanoclay content foaming time temperature on microstructure physical properties investigated. results revealed that leads considerable decrease due nucleation microcells along with re-expansion microballoons, as well CO2 diffusion voids between the matrix surfaces. Microballoon has no significant effect cell size foams, while great growth observed its increased. Results also indicated at low high time, melt strength gas loss are overcoming phenomena, respectively leading an optimal processing time.
